Police Operation Hub

Operation Hub cracks down on road users Drivers travelling in and out of Romsey are under scrutiny as Operation Hub gets underway this month. With a number of days in action in Romsey, the Automatic Number Plate Recognition system is used to scan passing vehicles, and those which prompt a reaction from the technology are spoken to by nearby officers. The system may flag them up for anything from being involved in crime, to driving without insurance or having no registered owner. Many people come through Romsey from otrher areas and so there are a wide range of vehicles and drivers able to be scanned by the ANPR technology. This type of operation is aimed at those who are involved in anti social or criminal use of vehicles.

Stream Clean

March Stream Clean Saturday 27th March Meet at Crosfield Hall at 9.15 The winter will have brought another crop of litter in our streams. We hope that by spending 2 hours on a spring stream clean we can make the town’s waterways look better and be more environmentally friendly for the animals that live in and use them. Wellington boots and rubber gloves are advised. We could do with more people who have or can borrow waders as some of the streams are deeper than they look. If you cannot come, but could lend some, please phone Phoebe Merrick on 01794 513751. If you are joining the stream clean it is advisable to be upto-date with your anti-tetanus shot.
